Angel Haze Opens Up About Being Raped

Angel Haze Opens Up About Being Raped

Rising rapper Angel Haze releases her new mixtape Classick today and one song in particular is drawing a lot of attention because of its raw honesty and emotional power. On the song “Cleanin’ Out My Closet,” which borrows the beat from Eminem’s song of the same name, Haze reveals in detail how she was sexually abused for years beginning at the age of seven.

“This might get a little personal, a lot, actually,” Haze says in a disclaimer at the beginning of the song. “Parental discretion is advised.”

Over the track’s four and a half minutes, Haze describes being raped in a basement and in her own bed by an unnamed predator who went on to make a habit out of the sexual assaults. She explains myriad unsettling physical and psychological effects that the attacks had on her, including thoughts of suicide, anorexia and even her attraction to women.

In an interview yesterday with The New York Times, Haze said that the song was the most difficult she had ever written.

“This is one of the most honest songs I have ever done in my entire life, and I was extremely nervous to put it out because of that,” she said. “I’m anxious, because I don’t know what the response is going to be. I don’t know how crazy it’s going to sound. I literally bared my soul there. So it’s a giant step for me, and hopefully it helps a lot of people.”

Haze said she made the song both to exorcise some of her own personal demons as well as to inspire others who have been through difficult circumstances.

“My ultimate goal was to let go of all of it, the things that kind of haunt me in a way,” she said. “I know it’s important in music to be honest with who you are, because this world is so full of lost kids who go through the same thing I went through, whose end result is ultimately suicide or drugs. And they don’t know they are strong enough to get through it. They don’t have an example. Too many people are afraid to say, ‘This happened to me and look what I did with it.'”

You can listen to “Cleanin’ out My Closet” here. Classick is scheduled for release later today.

Capo Is Living The Vamp Life

Jim is know for having hits, and 60 Racks is no exception. Most of the time when you be come a reality star you tend to fall off. Most of those show are used to re- Vamp peoples careers. In Jim’s case it seems that he is going to ride this train until the wheel fall off.

The new Vamp Life line that he is rocking has a nice look to it. Even though you can clear see that the V L letters are taken form the Louis Vuitton logo, but some how it seems to work for me.

Musically he has never sounded better. Jim is one of those artist that knows how to change with the time, but keep his style still classically Jim.

Shout Out to World Star for this Video.

Kendrick Lamar Says “Don’t Call My Album a Classic!”

The world Hip Hop may be in a total and utter tizzy over the release of Kendrick Lamar’s studio debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, but there’s one emcee out there who doesn’t believe the hype: Kendrick Lamar. Now, in a recent interview with Hot 97, the Compton emcee explains why his Aftermath/Interscope album shouldn’t be called a classic.

While speaking with Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg, K. Dot said that he doesn’t feel his critically lauded debut LP isn’t worthy of being labelled a classic yet, saying that it needs at least decade to marinate. He added that while he’s proud of the quality of his effort, he’s just happy that he was able to work with a group of people who believed in his vision.

“It ain’t a classic yet – it’s got to be at least ten years,” he said. “Oh yeah, definitely [it’s the best I could have made it], just off the fact that I had 100% creative control on it. That’s what I most proud of – [having] people that respect what I’ve been doing prior to me signing a major deal and they wanted to continue that.”

Can Ce-Ce Make a Come Back

From her Goodies to Sorry. Ciara has thrilled us with her dance moves and southern sweetness. However she has been flopping instead of taking off like she should.

We have seen her come out with some great singles, but when it comes to an album… well there is little to be desired. Is this Princes of Crunk losing her edge. This blogger would have to say so.

There are only going to be so many times that you can do the same thing before your audience gets bored. I think that this video is a good look for her. However I have said that before and I have turned around and been disappointed.

Basic Instinct was a commercial flop. Even though Ride was a good single. Fantasy Ride wasn’t bad, but fans where still not ready to take that ride.

The question remains will Ciara just be another pretty face in the sea of R&B song-stresses? This is the fifth time around and this is game time.
